Sail

… written on the occasion of the
Barony of Lyondemere’s 5th Annual
Lyon Bard Competition, A.S. XLI, for
Their Excellencies Thomas and
Angelina, dedicated to the honor of
TRMs Edric and Fa’izah and to the
glory of all Caid.
It’s a cold wind that blows from the north on my face,
Makes it hard to recall why I came to this place,
Where every days fortunes they rise and they fall,
And it’s all on the winds that prevail.
There’s a place I remember where winters are warm,
And they’ve never seen the likes of this storm.
Where everyday people share every day’s joys,
To Lyondemere’s shoreline I’ll sail.
I’ll put the wind at my back and just…
Sail, Sail, over the sea
Straight on till Lyondemere’s banners I’ll sea
And we’ll live well long as can be,
This journey we’re on can not fail.
Keep the wind at my back and just Sail.
A crescent moon shines on this bleak northern sea.
I’m chilled to the bone from my head to my feet.
Were I to remain here another long day,
They might as well lock me in jail.
But there’s hope for my soul in the crescent moon’s light,
That the same moon is shining in Caid tonight.
And the lion he stands on a peak by the shore,
Watching the gulls and the whales.
If I just close my eyes I can…
Sail, Sail, over the sea
Straight on till Lyondemere’s banners I’ll sea
And we’ll live well long as can be,
This journey we’re on can not fail.
Keep the wind at my back and just Sail.
