My lady likes to walk the fields,
cross the stream at the dawning, Oh.
Snow and ice and winter chill,
She likes it in the morning, Oh.

But when the fog is too thick to walk,
and nigh unto impossible
to see the trees behind the wall,
she sobs in the morning, Oh.

While I am content to pat my dog,
and wait until the fog does go.
Deep in the woods the birds will sing,
It’s clearing in the morning, Oh.
